Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

TFSIH is stable under thermal analysis.

Additional information

In a study (Defitraces 2014), using the DSC method, exothermic reactions (peaks) were observed at 381.4°C and 426.4°C. In this study, steel crucibles were used, and there were reactions between TFSIH and crucibles due to the high corrosivity of the test which explain these peaks.

In another study, using the TGA analysis, platinium or ceramic crucibles were used in order to study the reaction of TFSIH (aqueous solutions at 95% or 70 -80%) under heating. In this study, no exothermic effects were observed and complete decomposition above below 130 to 135°C occured without formation of HF, nor SO2, nor NOx (NO, NO2, N2O . . .).

According to these 2 studies, it can be concluded that TFSIH is stable when heating.
