Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Additional information

The physico-chemical properties considered for the hazard assessment of the substance are the following:

Melting point:

136.57° C (estimated)

Boiling point:

359.14° C (estimated)

Relative density:

0.99 at 20°C (30% aqueous solution)

Vapour pressure:

0.000000215 mm Hg (25° C) (estimated)

Partition coefficient:

-4.25 (estimated)

Water solubility:

4675 - 5200 g/l at 20°C

The melting point, the boiling point and the vapour pressure of Ammonium glycolate have been predicted by MPBPWIN v1.43 software.

The melting point, the boiling point and the vapour pressure of the marketed 30% aqueous solution have been estimated by calculation of vapor pressure lowering, boiling point elevation and freezing point depression (colligative properties).

Ammonium Glycolate is an organic salt, freely soluble in water, which dissociates into ammonium and glycolate ions within the environmentally relevant pH range (5-7).

Log Kow for Ammonium glycolate has been estimated by KOWWIN v1.68 as -4.25.

Ammonium glycolate is manufactured, marketed and used as aqueous solution (about 30% w/w), then the studies on flammability, explosive properties and self-ignition have been evaluated as unjustified.

Based on the chemical structure of the substance, oxidizing properties are excluded and a surface activity is not expected.
