Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Additional information

The substance ethyl diphenylphosphinite was tested for mutagenicity in the Ames test (standard plate test and preincubation test) both in the presence and in the absence of rat liver S-9 mix using the strains TA 1535, TA 100, TA 1537 and TA 98. A weak bacteriotoxic effect was observed in the standard plate test only with TA 100 at doses >= 2500 µg/plate with and without S-9 mix. In the preincubation test bacteriotoxicity was detected at 5000 µg/plate using TA 100 with and without S-9 mix or TA 1535, TA 98 and TA 1537 without S-9 mix only. An increase in the number of his revertants was not observed in all tested strains both in the standard plate test and in the preincubation test either without or with S-9 mix.

Short description of key information:
Ames (BASF 1989, OECD 471): negative with and without S9

Endpoint Conclusion: No adverse effect observed (negative)

Justification for classification or non-classification

The test substance ethyl diphenylphosphinite was not genotoxic in the Ames test. No other genotoxicity data are available.

Therefore the test material does not fulfill the requirements to be classified regarding this endpoint according Annex VI of Directive 67/548/EEC or CLP/EU GHS (Regulation (EC) No. 1272/2008).
