The TGAS coded AE 1170437 used at the initiation of this study includes multiple isomers, including the isomers AE 1170437 (principle active substance) and AE 1170438 (active isomer of the principle active substance). Since the biological activity of AE 1170438 is similar to AE 1170437, both are regarded as active substances in the TGAS. The TGAS contains 95% (94.7%) to 100% AE 1170437 and, 0 % to 5 % (5.3 %) AE 1170438. In order to distinguish between the single diastereomer AE 1170437, and the TGAS containing both AE 1170437 and AE 1170438, a new BCS code, BCS-AA10717, has been designated for the TGAS mixture of stereoisomers. All references to the technical active substance and analytical results as AE 1170437 are equivalent to the newly established TGAS: BCS-AA10717. - Analytical monitoring:

The 72 and 96-hour growth rates were calculated based on initial measured concentrations. The 72 hour EC50 value for growth rate (ErC50) is 112 μg a.i./L with LOEC and NOEC values of 39
and 20 μg a.i./L, respectively. The 96-hour EC50 value for growth rate is 117 μg a.i./L with LOEC and NOEC values of 79 and 39 μg a.i./L, respectively.

Additional information
Five studies with the test substance are available for the toxicity to algae, all studies referred to herein were conducted in accordance with the prevailing OECD testing guidelines (OECD 201) and GLP. Based on measured concentrations, the 96h EC50 (growth rate) in the green algae Pseudokirchneriella subcapitata was calculated to be 0.112 mg/L test item. The NOEC (growth rate) was at 0.02 mg/L. Another study with Pseudokirchneriella subcapitata exhibited an EC50 (72h) of 0.118 mg/L and a NOEC of 0.024. The 96h EC50 in the saltwater diatom Skeletonema costatum for the growth rate is 0.064 mg/L and for Navicula pelliculosa was an EC50 of 0.240 mg/L revealed the 96 h EC50 for the blue green algae Anabaena flos-aquae was 3 mg/L.Therefore the substance proved to be toxic to green algae, blue green algae and saltwater algae species as well as freshwater diatom algae as evidenced by EC50 values for the growth rate ranging from 0.06 to 3 mg/L.
