Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

The ready biodegradation of LAB was determined in an OECD 301F guideline study. LAB is readily biodegradable.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Biodegradation in water:
readily biodegradable

Additional information

In cases where no data were available on the target substance, Benzene, C15-16-alkyl derivs., data were read-across from a structurally related material (the test substance).

The ready biodegradation of a read-across source substance for Benzene, C15-16-alkyl derivs. was determined in an OECD 301F guideline study (manometric respirometry test). LAB reached 64.1% biodegradation in 28 days. While the 10 -day window was not met, LAB is a complex mixture. OECD guidelines state that the 10 -day window is not applicable to mixtures; therefore, Benzene, C15 -16 -alkyl derivs. is considered to be readily biodegradable.
