Study design

Analytical monitoring:
no
Estimation method (if used):
The test item is a hydrophobic molecule with a low solubility in water, containing 2 ester bonds that may hydrolyse at high pH value.
The result is based on the solubility in water, the results of the biodegradability (the substance is not ready biodegradable) and comparison with a related molecule.

Applicant's summary and conclusion

Conclusions:
Combining the information of water solubility, biodegradability test and the structural aspects of the molecule it is clear that RA3643 may hydrolyse, but the approximate rate is difficult to assess from the biodegradation test due to the insolubility of the substance. With a higher pH value of 9.0 and a high temperature, the hydrolysis half life of < 1 year may be assumed. However, comparing the properties of test item with a molecule with a related structure suggest that this may not be the case. It was concluded that RA 3643 can be considered to be hydrolytically stable , i.e. it has a half life > 1 year.
