Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.
The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information
The mean log Koc value of Piperonyl butoxide was determined to be 3.25 (mean Koc value 1778) at pH 6.0 and 30.0 ± 0.5°C based on the results of HPLC determination.
Key value for chemical safety assessment
Additional information
In a test to determine the adsorption-coefficient on soil (Koc) of Piperonyl butoxide by the HPLC method, 2 µL of the test item solution were injected into the HPLC system. The analysis was conducted three times. The test item eluted with a mean retention time of 5.369 min from the column.
The UV-spectrum of the test item was recorded in methanol/0.05 M citric acid buffer pH 6 (55/45, v/v). The spectrum had a range of 200 to 300 nm and the identification of the test item at 238 nm was shown to be feasible.
The mean log Koc value of Piperonyl butoxide was determined to be 3.25 (mean Koc value 1778) at pH 6.0 and 30.0 ± 0.5°C based on the results of HPLC determination.
Compared with the determined values of the adsorption coefficient ranging from log Koc 2.6 (Koc value 399) to log Koc 2.9 (Koc value 830) using the batch equilibrium method (see Jones, D.G., Piperonyl butoxide – The Insecticide Synergist (1998)), the result is in agreement and fulfills the quality criteria.
