Description of key information

The hydrolysis of Dodecane-12-lactam, manufacturing of, by-products from, distillation residues, was assessed in a GLP-study according to OECD 111 guideline, in aqueous buffers at pH 4, 7 and 9 at 50 ± 0.5 °C. After 5 days the principal peak of Dodecane-12-lactam was shown to have hydrolysed by less than 10% at each pH (equivalent to t0.5 25°C>1 year). This indicated that no significant hydrolysis occurred at environmentally relevant pH.

The hydrolysis of Dodecane-12-lactam, Manufacturing of, By-Products from, Distillation Residues was evaluated in a study performed in accordance with OECD testing guideline 111 and GLP requirements. However standard tests for hydrolysis are not typically appropriate for the test item since Dodecane-12-lactam, manufacturing of, by-products from, distillation residues, is present as a complexreaction product of unknown and variable composition. Therefore phase separation and arange of solubilities were observed and portions of the test item remained undissolved duringtesting.

 

Despite this, the hydrolysis of Dodecane-12-lactam, manufacturing of, by-products from,distillation residues, was assessed in aqueous buffers at pH 4, 7 and 9 at 50 ± 0.5 °C. After 5days the principal peak of Dodecane-12-lactam was shown to have hydrolysed by less than10% at each pH (equivalent to t0.525°C>1 year). This indicated that no significant hydrolysis occurred at environmentally relevant pH.
