Results and discussion

Relative self-ignition temperature (solids)
Remarks on result:
other: not self-ignitable (see discussion below)

Any other information on results incl. tables

An exothermic effect was observed. It started at an oven temperature of 319°C but the temperature of the test substance did not reach 400°C during this effect. During further heating, the temperature of the test sample remained above the temperature of the oven. The test substance reached 400°C at an oven temperature of 362°C and a maximum temperature of 432°C.

According to the guideline, a test substance is self-ignitable when the sample temperature reaches 400°C by self-heating with a sharp temperature rise. Because no sharp temperature rise was observed the test substance is considered „not self-ignitable‟.

During the experiment, the test substance had turned into a green/blue and partially black residue. It confirms that the test substance had decomposed and/or reacted during the experiment.

Applicant's summary and conclusion

Conclusions:
The self-ignition temperature of E-C104 was determined using a temperature programmed laboratory oven, a stainless steel wire mesh cube, NiCr/NiAl thermocouples and a temperature recording device. Based on the results obtained the test substance is considered "not self-ignitable".
