Sodium hydride is a strong base which reacts nearly spontaneously when exposed to water forming sodium hydroxide and hydrogen gas. Thus according to Annex XI part 2, it is not technically feasible to test for hydrolysis.


Sodium hydride is an inorganic compound and therefore the biodegradadtion endpoint is waived in accordance with column 2 of REACH Annex VII. Further data on biodegradation are also not possible to generate due to the substance being inorganic, and water reactive.


The data bioaccumulation for sodium hydride is waived in accordance with REACH Annex XI, the study is not technically feasible because the test substance is reactive with water. Once this substance has reacted with water it produces sodium hydroxide and hydrogen gas. Sodium hydroxide is highly water soluble and therefore will not bioaccumulate.
