Conclusions:
The water solubility of test substance was determined to be 0.19 mg/L at 20°C at pH 6.5

Description of key information

The water solubility was determined in a test according to OECD 105 to be 1.3 mg/L at 25°C. In Soerensen buffer (pH 8) the solubility increased drastically to 3.3 g/L at 20°C.

The water solubility of test substance was determined in another case to be 0.19 mg/L at 20°C at pH 6.5.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Water solubility:
1.3 mg/L
at the temperature of:
25 °C

Additional information

The strong dependency of the solubility from pH can be explained by the molecular structure. The carboxyl groups dissociate at pH values above the pKa (ca. 7) which leads to a high solubility, in contrast to acidic pH values where the carboxyl groups are not dissociated.
