Data platform availability banner - registered substances factsheets

Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

First-aid measures

- General notes: Remove the contaminated clothes. Get medical attention immediately.

- Inhalation: Remove to fresh air or give oxygen. Consult a physician.

- Skin contact: Wash with soap and water. Consult doctor if irritation persists.

- Eye contact: Flush abundantly with clean water for at least 15 minutes and refer to a physician.

- Ingestion: Do not induce vomiting. Refer to a physician

Fire-fighting measures

Suitable extinguishing media : Carbon dioxide, foam and dry chemicals.

Unsuitable extinguishing media: Do not use water jets.

Special hazard arising from the substance: Vapour is heavier than air and may travel to a considerable distance to source of ignition and flashback.

Advice for firefighters: Wear NIOSH/MSHA approved Self contained breathing apparatus and full protective equipments

Accidental release measures

Protective equipment:  Wear protective gloves and self contained breathing apparatus. Provide adequate ventilation to avoid accumulation of vapours. Do not touch or walk through spilled material. Avoid breathing vapours.

Environmental precautions: Avoid entry into the drainage system.

Methods and material for containment and cleaning up: Absorb spilled material in sand, vermiculate or earth. Place the absorbed material into steel container and cover. Wash the area of spillage thoroughly with water

Handling and storage

Precautions for safe handling: Handle in well ventilated area. Avoid contact with skin and eyes.

Conditions for safe storage, including any incompatibilities: Store in dry and cool place. Keep in tightly closed containers. Provide sufficient ventilation in storage rooms.

Avoid contact with strong oxidizing agents, heat, open flames and sparks

Exposure controls / personal protection

Appropriate engineering controls: Use local exhaust to remove vapors during processing.

Individual protection measures:

(a) Eye / face protection: Wear safety glasses with side shield.

(b) Hand protection: Wear PVC gloves.

(c) Respiratory protection: Use NIOSH/MSHA approved atmosphere supplying or air purifying respirator for organic vapors.

(d) Other: Wear full protective clothing as required to prevent skin protection.

Stability and reactivity

Reactivity: May react with strong oxidizing agents.

Chemical stability: Stable if stored under normal conditions.

Possibility of hazardous reactions: Low possibility if stored under normal conditions i.e. away from heat sparks and strong oxidizing agents.

Conditions to avoid: Avoid contact with heat, open flames, sparks and hot surfaces.

Incompatible materials: Avoid contact with strong oxidizing agents.

Hazardous decomposition products: Oxides of carbon and sulphur, hydrogen chloride, hydrogen sulphide.

Disposal considerations

Waste treatment containers and methods:

Absorb spilled material in sand, vermiculate or earth. Place the absorbed material into steel container and cover.

Dispose it according to federal, state and local chemical and solvent waste disposal regulations.

Disposal of containers:

Do not reuse the containers. Dispose off according to federal, state and local waste disposal regulations.
