Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Additional information

Substance is a complex UVCB. Standard tests for this endpoint are intended for pure substances and are not appropriate for this complex substance.

The substance is a product obtained from wheat after wet extraction of proteins and starch and catalytic/enzymatic hydrolysis consisting mainly of hydrolyzed starch, proteins and fibers.

Overall water solubility was determinate to be 77 g/L at 20°C accordingly OECD105 test method and it appears to be not soluble in n-octanol by visual judgment.

Based on this information, it is scientifically reasonable to predict that the n-octanol/water partition coefficient (log Kow) will be low. Thus, according to section 1 of REACh (Regulation (EC) No 1907/2006) Annex XI, the n-octanol/water partition coefficient (required in Annex VII section 7.8) does not need to be conducted.

Moreover the known constituents of this UVCB substance are commonly very soluble in water and commonly not considered to bioaccumulate in the environment. Therefore, no bioaccumulation potential is expected from this UVCB substance and the log Kow is expected to be significantly smaller than 3 and consequently of no concern.
