First-aid measures

Eye contact - Immediately irrigate with eyewash solution or clean water, holding the  eyelids apart, for at least 15 minutes.  Obtain medical attention.

Skin contact - Take off immediately all contaminated clothing.  Wash skin immediately with water, followed by soap and water. Obtain immediate medical attention.  Contaminated clothing should be laundered before re-issue.

Inhalation - Remove patient from exposure, keep warm and at rest.  Obtain immediate medical attention.

Ingestion - Provided the patient is conscious, wash out mouth with water and give 200-300 ml (half a pint) of water to drink. Do not induce vomiting. Obtain immediate medical attention.

Symptomatic treatment and supportive therapy as indicated.

Fire-fighting measures

Special hazards - Not classified as flammable.

As with many organic dusts, explosions may occur if dispersed as a dust cloud and ignited.

Take precautionary measures against static discharges.

If involved in a fire, it may emit noxious and toxic fumes.

Protective equipment - A self-contained breathing apparatus and suitable protective clothing should be worn in fire conditions.

Extinguishing agents - Water spray, foam, dry powder or CO2. Water spray should be used to cool containers.

Accidental release measures

Personal precautions - Ensure suitable personal protection during removal of spillages.

Environmental precautions -  Do not allow to enter drains, sewers or watercourses.

Methods for clean-up - Do not breathe dust. Do not scatter the dry material.  Clear up spillages. Transfer to a container for disposal. Wash the spillage area clean. Washings must be prevented from entering surface water drains.

Handling and storage

Advice on protection against fire and explosion - Keep away from heat and sources of ignition.

Safe handling advice - Control dust formation. Avoid contact with skin and eyes. Avoid inhalation of dust/aerosol.
