Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

Reaction mass of aluminium and magnesium oxide and spinel (Mg(AlO2)2) are not bioavailable via a relevant route of exposure. It is therefore predicted that aluminium skimmings cannot produce systemic toxicity via the oral or dermal route of exposure. Inhalation exposure is not relevant because of the coarse particle size distribution (MMAD > 100 µm).

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Additional information

The constituents of aluminium skimmings are eiter not bioavailable (Al) or toxicologically not relevant (Mg, NH4 +).

In addition, inhalation is not a relevant route of exposure due to the MMAD > 100 µm and the negligible vapour pressure of the components in aluminium skimmings.
