Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Experimental data are available for TMAEE (CAS 93240-93-8) only for algae and microorganisms. Therefore, the assessment of the toxicity of the substance to aquatic organisms was based on the available experimental data from TMAEE itself and from read-across data for the structurally similar substance BDMAEE (CAS 3033-62-3):

Acute toxicity to fish

With high probability acutely not harmful to fish.

Key study: semi-static freshwater test according to OECD 203, GLP, Danio rerio, analytical verification of test item concentrations, read-across to BDMAEE (CAS 3033 -62 -3; BASF AG, 1997, report no.: 17F0201/975043): 96 -h LC50 = 131 mg/L (nominal, pH not adjusted)

Acute toxicity to aquatic invertebrates:

With high probability acutely not harmful to aquatic invertebrates.

Key study: static freshwater test acc. to OECD 202, GLP, Daphnia magna, analytical verification of test item concentrations, read-across to BDMAEE (CAS 3033 -62 -3; RCC Ltd., 2008, report no.: B09933): 48 -h EC50 = 102 mg/L (measured, pH adjusted)

Toxicity to green algae and cyanobacteria

Acutely harmful to aquatic algae.

Key study: static freshwater test acc. to OECD 201, GLP, Pseudokirchneriella subcapitata, analytical verification of test item concentrations (BASF SE, 2019, report no.: 60E0034/19X015): 72 -h ErC10 = 41.0 mg/L (nominal, pH not adjusted, 95% CL: 32.4 - 98.5 mg/L), 72 -h ErC50 = 70.4 mg/L (nominal, pH not adjusted, 95% CL: 37.0 - 99.2 mg/L)

Toxicity to aquatic microorganisms

The inhibition of the degradation activity of activated sludge is not anticipated when introduced in appropriately low concentrations.

Key study: OECD 209, GLP, domestic activated sludge as inoculum, no analytical verification (BASF SE, 2020, report no.: 08G0034/19G051): 180 -min EC10 = 340 mg/L (nominal), 180 -min EC20 > 1000 mg/L (nominal)
