Guidance on Safe Use
Administrative data
First-aid measures
General advice:
- Following inhalation:
Remove victim from contaminated area. If no breathing, practice artificial airways. Consult a doctor.
- Following skin contact:
Remove contaminated clothing and wash skin with running water.
- Following eye contact:
Without wasting time, rinse eyes with water for 15 minutes with eyelids hold open. Immediately consult Ophthalmologist in all case.
- Following ingestion:
If swallowed : Provide emergency transport to a hospital center in all case.
- Most important symptoms and effects:
If subject is completely conscious : Rinse mouth and lips with fresh water. Do not give drink. Do not induce vomiting.
If subject is unconscious : Gestures conventional resuscitation.
Main symptoms and effects, acute and delayed : Very low toxicity of salts of strontium. In very important doses: excessive salivation, vomits, stomach pains, diarrheas, possible stop of the breath.
Indication of any immediate medical attention and special treatment necessary : Rinse thoroughly with water area in contact with the substance. Consult a doctor.
Fire-fighting measures
- Suitable extinguishing media:
All extinguishing agents are suitable.
- Unsuitable extinguishing media:
No data available.
- Special hazards arising from the substance or mixture:
Hazardous combustion products : The thermal decomposition of the product is source of toxic vapors.
- Advice for fire fighter:
Protective measures : Avoid contact with skin and eyes. Isolate.
Special protective equipment : Wear breathing apparatus and protective clothing .
Accidental release measures
- Personal precautions:
To the non-rescuers
Protection equipment : Goggles, chemical protective gloves (EN374-3), workwear.
Flame, ventilation, dust : Ensure adequate ventilation. Wearing dust-mask type P2 P3 (EN143).
Emergency procedures : If spilled quantities are important, evacuate all personnel and involving only trained operators equipped with protective equipment.
To the rescuers
Appropriate clothing : Goggles, chemical protective gloves (EN374-3), workwear.
Inappropriate clothing : No data available
- Environmental safety protection : Prevent any penetration into sewers or waterways.
Place in containers for disposal of waste recovered in accordance with existing regulations.
If the product contaminates waterways, rivers or sewers, inform appropriate authorities in accordance with statutory procedure.
- Methods and material for containment and cleanup :
If spilling : Pick up spilled product, put it in plastic bags or drums.
Place in containers for disposal of waste recovered in accordance with
existing regulations.
- Cleaning procedures : Pick up the product by sweeping in hermetic container and evacuate toan appropriate recycling facility by regional and national regulations.
Handling and storage
- Precautions for safe handling:
Handling : Handle in well ventilated area. Capture dust if necessary. Avoid contact with skin and eyes.
Observe the precautions listed on the label and the rules of labor protection.
Prohibit access to unauthorized persons.
Hygiene : Wash hands before and after handling. Do not smoke, drink and heat in premises where product is used.
- Conditions for safe storage, including any incompatibilities:
Keep container tightly closed in a dry and well ventilated.
Recommended materials : polyethylene.
Particular(s) final(s) use(s) : For any particular use, consult the supplier.
