Justification for classification or non-classification

Acute toxicity studies may not be conducted with strontium oxide, since the substance is corrosive to the skin. In an acute oral toxicity study with the soluble non-corrosive strontium neodecanoate (representative for the assessment entity strontium), no pathological findings were reported which would allow a classification for specific target organ toxicity-single exposure (oral). Thus, it is concluded that strontium oxide does not need to be classified.
