Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Endpoint:
oxidising solids
Data waiving:
study scientifically not necessary / other information available
Justification for data waiving:
the study does not need to be conducted because the organic substance contains oxygen or halogen atoms which are chemically bonded only to carbon or hydrogen and hence, the classification procedure does not need to be applied

Description of key information

Non oxidising.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Oxidising properties:
non oxidising

Additional information

Oxidising gases:

The test item is a solid at ambient conditions. This hazard class is only applicable for gases. Thus, the substance was not considered for classification as oxidising gases.

Oxidising liquid:

The test item is a solid at ambient conditions. This hazard class is only applicable for liquids. Thus, the substance was not considered for classification as oxidising liquid.

Oxidising solids:

For organic compounds as 9-[2-(ethoxycarbonyl)phenyl]-3,6-bis(ethylamino)-2,7-dimethylxanthylium chloride, the classification procedure for oxidizing substances of Devision 5.1 need not be applied if the compound contains oxygen, fluorine or chlorine and these elements are chemically bonded only to carbon or hydrogen (UN Transport of Dangerous Goods, 2009). Since the test substance meets these conditions, no study is required.

Justification for classification or non-classification

Classification, Labelling, and Packaging Regulation (EC) No 1272/2008

Based on the chemical structure and taking into account the provisions laid down in Regulation (EC) No 1272/2008, the substance is not considered to be classified for oxidising properties.
