Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Additional information

An acute test on fish (96-h LC50 6.8 mg/L) and Daphnia (96-h LC50 7.1 mg/L) and a chronic test on algae (3-d NOEC 1.25 mg/L) were performed to examine the acute aquatic toxicity. The toxicity to aquatic organisms may be described by the toxicity of LAS-Na and IPA according to the read-across statement in which full dissociation of the substance in water is supported. Sufficient data are available for LAS-Na (few for IPA) which should provide adequate short-term and long-term aquatic toxicity data (see read-across statement).

For LAS-Na a large number of aquatic toxicity studies are available. The EC50s and NOECs are in the same order of magnitude as those found for LASIPA. The EC50 (fish) found in toxicity tests with IPA are higher than that found for LASIPA, but the NOEC (algae) found in toxicity tests with IPA is lower than that of LASIPA, but still in the same order of magnitude as that of both LASIPA and LAS-Na.

These data demonstrate that the counter ion is not significant in determining potential hazard in the environment.

Differences in molar weight of LAS-Na and LASIPA were not taken into consideration.

On the basis of the available tests, the substance does not need to be classified as harmful for aquatic organisms.
