Sample boiling point at 101.325 kPa = 228 °C.

Latent heat of evaporation of sample = 41.9 kJ mol-1.

Conclusions:
A boiling point temperature and latent heat of evaporation of 228 °C and 41.9 kJ mol-1, respectively, was calculated for 2-butoxyethyl methacrylate at 101.325 kPa.
Executive summary:

An experiment was undertaken in line with OECD Guideline 103 (Boiling Point) using an ebulliometer to establish the boiling point temperature of 2-butoxyethyl methacrylate. Pressure and temperature measurements were taken at the point that the liquid sample boiled within the flask and then continuously as the pressure was increased up to the standard atmospheric pressure. The Clapeyron-Clausius equation was applied to enable calculation of latent heat of evaporation and boiling point temperature at an atmospheric pressure of 101.325 kPa. A final value of 41.9 kJ mol-1 and 228 °C, respectively, was determined for 2-butoxyethyl methacrylate.

Description of key information

2-Butoxyethyl methacrylate was determined to have a boiling point temperature and latent heat of evaporation of 228 °C and 41.9 kJ mol-1, respectively, at 101.325 kPa.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Boiling point at 101 325 Pa:
228 °C

Additional information

The endpoint conclusion was obtained from a key study undertaken according to OECD Guideline 103 (Boiling Point). A Klimisch score of 1 (reliable without restriction) has subsequently been assigned and the endpoint can be considered to be a key value.
