Description of key information

Vapour pressure [3-[dimethoxy(methyl)silyl]propanethiol]: 23 Pa at 25°C (QSAR)

Vapour pressure [3-(dihydroxymethylsilyl)propanethiol]: 0.0092 Pa at 25°C (QSAR)

Vapour pressure [methanol]: 12790 Pa at 20°C

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Vapour pressure:
23 Pa
at the temperature of:
25 °C

Additional information

A vapour pressure value of 23 Pa at 25°C was determined for the substance using a validated QSAR estimation method. The result is considered to be reliable.

In contact with water, the substance hydrolyses rapidly to form 3-(dihydroxymethylsilyl)propanethiol and methanol. The vapour pressure of the silanol hydrolysis product was predicted to be 0.0092 Pa at 25°C using a validated QSAR estimation method.

Methanol has a reported vapour pressure of 12790 Pa at 20°C (OECD 2004).
