Description of key information
Appearance / physical state / colour:
On the basis of physical observation the test chemical was clear colorless to pale yellow liquid in appearance.
Melting point/freezing point:
The Freezing point of test chemical was determined with Freezing Temperature Method and it was determine to be less than -16.39 °C at 978.0hPa
Boiling point:
The boiling point determination of test chemical was done following OECD Guideline 103 and according to the method of Siwoloboff. The test was conducted in replicates and mean boiling point was determined to be 199°C at 976.6hPa.
Density:
The density of test chemical was determined following OECD guideline 109 and according to the Indian standard method for determination of density of liquids [IS 4730:1994 (Reaffirmed 2010)]. The mean density of the test chemical was determined to be 1.824 g/cm³ at 20°C and 978.0hPa
Particle size distribution (granulometry):
In accordance with REACH Chapter R.7A Endpoint Specific Guidance, specifically R.7.1.14.1 Information requirements on granulometry, the granulometry study does not need to be conducted as the test substance, is marketed or used in a non solid or granular form. The test substance is a colorless liquid at room temperature and as such this study is not technically feasible. Hence this endpoint was considered for waiver.
Vapour pressure:
Vapour pressure of the test substance was determined to be 1.63 hPa at 25 °C.
Partition coefficient:
The partition Coefficient n-octanol/water of test chmeical was determined by the Reverse Phase High Performance Liquid Chromatographic method according to OECD Guideline No. 117 for testing of Chemicals. The Log Pow value was determined to be 3.231± 0.002 dimensionless at 25°C.
Water solubility:
The water solubility determination of test chemical was done as per the OECD guideline 105 and by spectrophotometric analytical method as per OECD 101. The solubility of test chemical in water was determined to be 38.93 mg/L at 25°C.
Hence, it is considered to be slightly soluble.
Surface tension:
According to data from handbook, surface tension of test substance was determined to be 0.04824 N/m.
Flash point:
The flash point determination of test chemical was done by following closed cup method using Pensky-Martens flash point apparatus. The test was conducted in replicates and the mean flash point was determined to be 117°C at 976.6hPa.
Auto-flammability:
Test chemical did not catch fire on being exposed to air at room temperature of 27°C pressure of 966hPa. This indicates that the test chemical is not auto-flammable.
Flammability:
As the flash point of the test chemical was 117°C, it did not meet the GHS criteria. Hence the chemical was considered as non-flammable.
Explosiveness:
In accordance with column 2 of Annex VII of the REACH regulation, the study does not need to be conducted since there are no chemical groups associated with explosive properties present in the molecule of test chemical. Thus, the chemical is likely to be "Non explosive". Hence this end point was considered for waiver.
Oxidising properties:
In accordance with column 2 of Annex VII of the REACH regulation, the study does not need to be conducted because the substance is liquid [study technically not feasible] and also because the organic substance contains oxygen or halogen atoms which are chemically bonded only to carbon or hydrogen and hence, the classification procedure does not need to be applied [study scientifically not necessary / other information available]
pH:
The pH determination of test chemical was done as per the test guideline OECD 122. The mean pH of the test dispersion was determined with the help of digital pH meter. The mean pH value was determined to be 4.91 at 28 °C, which indicated that the chemical was acidic

From other reliable sources & authoritative databases it is concluded that the test chemical physically appears as a colorless to pale yellow liquid.
Melting point/freezing point:
The Freezing point of test chemical was determined with Freezing Temperature Method and it was determine to be less than -16.39 °C at 978.0hPa
Other supporting studies from authoritative database and handbooks also suggest that the freezing point of test chemical was determined to be in the range of -20 degree C to -16.5 degree C.
Also, From EPI suit estimation software, freezing point of test substance was estimated to be -15.14 °C.
Boiling point:
The boiling point determination of test chemical was done following OECD Guideline 103 and according to the method of Siwoloboff. The test was conducted in replicates and mean boiling point was determined to be 199°C at 976.6hPa.
Based on data available from various reliable sources such as authoritative database and handbook, the boiling point of the test substance was determined to be 197°C.
Density:
The density of test chemical was determined following OECD guideline 109 and according to the Indian standard method for determination of density of liquids [IS 4730:1994 (Reaffirmed 2010)]. The mean density of the test chemical was determined to be 1.824 g/cm³ at 20°C and 978.0hPa
Based on available data from authoritative database, density of the test substance was determined to be 1.83 g/cm3 at 20°C.
Other supporting study from reliable handbook, also suggest the density of test chemical at 25 degree C was determined to be 1.81g/cm3

Based on the available data from authoritative database, octanol water partition coefficient of the test substance was determined according to OECD Guideline 107 (Partition Coefficient (n-octanol / water), Shake Flask Method). The log Pow value of the substance was determined to be in the range from 2.7-2.75.
Water solubility:
The water solubility determination of test chemical was done as per the OECD guideline 105 and by spectrophotometric analytical method as per OECD 101. The solubility of test chemical in water was determined to be 38.93 mg/L at 25°C.
Hence, it is considered to be slightly soluble.
