Description of key information

The adsorption coefficient (log Koc) was determined according to the EU test method C.19 and GLP. The HPLC (High Performance Liquid Chromatography) method was used for the estimation the adsorption coefficient of the test item in soil and sewage.

While passing through the column along with the mobile phase, the test item interacts with the stationary phase and is retarded. By analysis of the reference items via HPLC the corresponding retention times can be determined. The retention time of the test item is evaluated by setting up a calibration plot for references substances of known log Koc. By applying the regression equation of the calibration plot, the adsorption coefficient of the test item can be calculated. Only one reference substance was used in this study, acetanilide, which has the lowest adsorption coefficient according to the table of reference items in EU test method C19. In this study, the test item revealed to have a retention time higher than sodium nitrate, but lower than acetanilide. The adsorption coefficient obtained for the test item is : Koc<17.8 and log Koc<1.25.
