Melting point of pyridine-2,4-dicarboxylic acid is determine to be 249 Deg C.

Boiling Point:

Boiling point of pyridine-2,4-dicarboxylic acid is determine to be 295.67 Deg C.

Density:

Density of pyridine-2,4-dicarboxylic acid is determine to be 1.5216 g/cm3 at temperature 25 C.

Particle size distribution:

The particle size distribution of Pyridine-2,4-dicarboxylic acid was determined by granulometric analysis with rotap sieve shaker. The particle size distribution was determined to be in the range of 150 micron to 25 micron.

Vapour pressure:

Vapour pressure of pyridine-2,4-dicarboxylic acid is determine to be 0.00081 Pa at 25 Deg C.

Partition coefficient:

Based on the available data from handbook and authoritative databases, the partition coefficient (log Pow) value of the substance2,4-Pyridinedicarboxylic acidwas estimated to be 0.57. Based on the estimated value, chemical 2,4-Pyridinedicarboxylic acid can be considered to be hydrophilic in nature.

Water solubility:

Water solubility of chemical pyridine-2,4-dicarboxylic acid is determine to be 2490 mg/L at temperature 25 C.

Surface tension:

Based on the data from ACD labs, surface tension for Pyridine-2,4-dicarboxylic acid was predicted to be 0.0835 N/m.

Flash point:

Flash point of Pyridine-2,4-dicarboxylic acid is estimated to be 301.25 Deg C.

Auto flammability:

Pyridine-2,4-dicarboxylic acid did not catch fire on being exposed to air at room temperature of 27°C pressure of 966 hPa. This indicates that Pyridine-2,4-dicarboxylic acid is not auto-flammable.

Flammability:

Pyridine-2,4-dicarboxylic acid does not indicate any ignition when the flame of bunsen burner having temperature of approximately 950°C is brought in contact with it. Thus it can be concluded that Pyridine-2,4-dicarboxylic acid is not flammable at high temperature. However since such high temperatures are not found under normal circumstances of transportation and use, thus Pyridine-2,4-dicarboxylic acid was considered non-flammable for chemical safety assessment.

Explosiveness:

The study does not need to be conducted because there are no chemical groups present in the molecule which are associated with explosive properties.

Oxidizing properties:

The study does not need to be conducted because the substance is a solid.

From other reliable sources it is concluded that density of pyridine-2,4 -dicarboxylic acid is 1.5597 g/cm3 at temperature 20 C.

Based on the available data in a key and supporting studyfrom handbook and authoritative databases, the partition coefficient (log Pow) value of the substance 2,4-Pyridinedicarboxylic acidwas estimated to be 0.57.

Additional supporting studyfrom predicted database indicates that the octanol waterpartition coefficient (log Pow) value of the substance 2,4-Pyridinedicarboxylic acid was estimated to be 0.496.

Thus, based on the available information, the logPow valueof the test substance 2,4-Pyridinedicarboxylic acid ranges from 0.496 to 0.57, respectively. On the basis of this value, chemical 2,4-Pyridinedicarboxylic acid can be considered to be hydrophilic in nature.
