Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Reference
Endpoint:
oxidising solids
Type of information:
experimental study
Adequacy of study:
key study
Study period:
15.07.-21.07.2016
Reliability:
1 (reliable without restriction)
Rationale for reliability incl. deficiencies:
guideline study
Qualifier:
according to guideline
Guideline:
EU Method A.17 (Oxidising Properties (Solids))
Deviations:
yes
Remarks:
Based on earlier studies the test substance was not dried. The reason is that the test substance contents high hydrophilic sulfonate salts that rapidly bind air humidity. This deviation has no negative impact on the study results.
GLP compliance:
yes (incl. QA statement)
Contact with:
other: powdered cellulose, barium nitrate
Duration of test (contact time):
> 10 - < 430 s
Key result
Sample tested:
4:1 sample-to-cellulose ratio
Parameter:
preliminary test
Result:
20 s
Remarks on result:
mixture does not ignite and burn
Sample tested:
reference mixture as specified
Remarks:
barium nitrate 60% and 40% cellulose
Parameter:
mean burning time
Result:
> 0.61 - < 0.81 mm/s
Sample tested:
1:1 sample-to-cellulose ratio
Parameter:
preliminary test
Remarks on result:
mixture does not ignite and burn
Interpretation of results:
GHS criteria not met
Conclusions:
Based on results obtained from trial test, it is obvious that none of the test substance mixtures with cellulose burned all distance of 200 mm of the pile. Thus test substance, Direct Blue 78, shouldn´t be considered as a substance with oxidizing properties.
Executive summary:

The oxidizing properties of test substance, Direct Blue 78, were determined.

The procedure was performed according to the Method A.17 Oxidizing properties (Solids),Council Regulation (EC) No.440/2008, published in O.J. L 142, 2008.
