Additional information

This substance is asolid substance with negligible vapor pressure and highly soluble (dispersible) in water. It isexpected to have low mobility in soil due to relatively high soil adsorption coefficients. Volatilization of the substance is not expected to be an important environmental fate process since it is a sodium salt and is not volatile. Therefore, it isnot expected to be present in the vapor phase thus not in the atmosphere. When introduced into soil compartment, this substance will mainly reside in the soil compartment. Whenreleased into water, this compound will be distributed between the water and sediment compartments. DOWFAX 8390-D surfacnt is hydrolytically stable. This substance is expected to decompose at 220 C. This substance does not volatile so phototransformation in air is not a relevant fate process. This substance is expected to have low bioaccumulation potential becuase of its high water solublity (>1 kg/L) and low octanol-water partition coefficient (log Pow <1.82). Dowfax 8390 is not readily biodegradable but inherently biodegradable not fulfilling specific criteria. Dowfax 8390 is biodegradable in river water and sediment as well as soil, primary degradation occurring at a faster speed (half life ranging from 2.2 to 180 d) while ultimate degradation (mineralization) occurring at a much slower speed.
