Description of key information
Additional information
FAT 40868/A TE is a dark blue powder, solid at 20°C.
The test substance decomposed from approximately 240 °C (513 K). As the test item decomposed, no value for melting temperature could be determined.
The study for boiling point is waived off as the substance decomposes before boiling.
The density was determined to be 1.77E+03 kg/m3 at 22.3 ± 0.5 °C, thereby giving a relative density of 1.77.
Particle size data was acquired, using a procedure designed to be compatible with European Commission Guidance Document EUR 20268 ‘Determination of Particle Size Distribution, Fibre Length and Diameter Distribution of chemical substances’, 2002. The results are as follows:
Proportion of test item having an inhalable particle size <100 μm (Sieve) 92.2 %
Proportion of test item having a thoracic particle size <10.0 μm (Cascade Impactor) 0.231 %
Proportion of test item having a respirable particle size <5.5 μm (Cascade Impactor) 0.161 %
The vapour pressure has been calculated to be less than 4.1E-23 Pa at 25 °C.
The partition coefficient (log Pow) of the test substance was calculated to be less than -3.30 at 22.8 ± 0.5 °C.
The water solubility of the test substance was determined to be greater than 35.1 % w/w of solution (equivalent to greater than 541 g/L of water) at 20.0 ± 0.5 °C.
The study for surface tension is waived off, as no surface-active properties were predicted for this test substance.
The study for flash point is waived off, as the test substance is a solid at room temperature and has a high melting point.
The test substance has been determined not to have a relative self-ignition temperature below 400 °C.
The test substance is not highly flammable.
The test item was assessed to be not explosive.
The test item was predicted to be not oxidising.
