Short-term toxicity to fish:

Static-96 hr test was conducted to find out the toxicity of thiosemicarbazide to fish. Thiosemicarbazide exposed to Fathead Minnow (Pimephales promelas) at concentration of 20.8mg/L. Fish were observed for 14 days. 50 % mortality was observed at concentration of 20.8 mg/l.Therefore median lethal dose (LC50) was considered to be 20.8 mg/L for Pimephales promelas based on 50% mortality.

Based on the value and biodegradability status, the substance may be classified in aquatic chronic category 3 as per the CLP regulation.

Short-term toxicity to aquatic invertebrates:

Short-term toxicity test to aquatic invertebrates was conducted to study the effects of thiosemicarbazide. The Dose concentration used is 21mg/l for 48 hours. Based on Mortality median lethal dose (LC50) was considered to be 21mg/l for thiosemicarbazide .

Based on the value and biodegradability status, the substance may be classified in aquatic chroniccategory 3 as per the CLP regulation.

Toxicity to aquatic algae and cyanobacteria:

Toxicity test of thiosemicarbazide was done at two concentration 2.8 mg/L and 19 mg/L for 72 h. The EC50 value for thiosemicarbazide is considered to be 19mg/L and the NOEC is 2.8 mg/L.

Based on the value and biodegradability status, the substance may be classified in aquatic chroniccategory 3 as per the CLP regulation.
