Additional information

Tantalum carbide is an inorganic substance and as such not susceptible to biodegradation. As the substance is highly insoluble (0.333 µg Ta/L at 21.5 °C and pH 8 after 7 days and a loading of 100 mg/L in a T/D test) a study investigating the hydrolysis as a function of pH does not need to be conducted. Furthermore, the adsorption/desorption screening study does not need to be conducted as the study is technically not feasible. As tantalum carbide is highly insoluble in water, analytical measurements cannot be performed with sufficient accuracy.
