Description of key information

TCD-emulsifier is predicted to be readily biodegradable by QSAR estimation using EpiSuite 4.1/BIOWIN, Biowin 1–7.

Since the experimental test for ready biodegradability of TCD-emulsifier (not guideline compliant but presumably similar to OECD 301A or 301E: OECD screening test; DOC removal of 47 % within 28 d) is not suitable for poorly water soluble substances, the study employs an unsuitable test system and is insufficiently documented for assessment, a QSAR estimation was conducted. The biodegradability of TCD-emulsifier was calculated by QSAR estimation using EpiSuite 4.1/BIOWIN, Biowin 1–7. With the exception of the prediction by the Biowin 6 sub-model (MITI Non-Linear Biodegradation Probability, see also 3.4 of the QPRF, uncertainty of the prediction, OECD principle 4), all other model results unequivocally predict that TCD-emulsifier is readily biodegradable (including anaerobic degradation); the predicted time frame for ultimate degradation is days to weeks.
