First-aid measures

General advice: Move out of dangerous area. Consult a physician. Show this safety data sheet to the doctor in attendance. Do not leave the victim unattended.

If inhaled: Call a physician immediately. Move the victim to fresh air. If unconscious, place in recovery position and get medical attention immediately.

In case of skin contact: Call a physician immediately. CONTACT WITH THE HOT MELT: Cooling immediately with plenty of water. Do not remove product crusts which may have formed neither forcibly nor by applying any solvents to the skin involved. In order to obtain medical care for possible burns and for a smooth cleansing of the skin, seek medical advice immediately. Wash skin immediately with plenty of water and soap. Subsequent cleansing with polyethyleneglycol 400, then again with water and soap. Take off contaminated clothing and shoes immediately.

In case of eye contact: Call a physician immediately. Remove contact lenses. Protect unharmed eye. Immediately flush eyes with plenty of water, occasionally lifting the upper and lower eyelids.

If swallowed: Call a physician immediately. Keep respiratory tract clear. Never give anything by mouth to an unconscious person. Rinse mouth with water. DO NOT induce vomiting unless directed to do so by a physi-cian or poison control center.

Risks: Toxic if swallowed, in contact with skin or if inhaled. May cause an allergic skin reaction. May cause damage to organs through prolonged or repeated exposure. Cortisone spray should be inhaled immediately after inhalation of the substance to prevent toxic pulmonary oedema.

Notes to physician: Elementary aid, decontamination, symptomatic treatment and depending on the formation of methaemoglobin: intravenous administration of toluidine blue or other redox dyes according to dosage specifications plus ascorbic acid.

Fire-fighting measures

Suitable extinguishing media: Use water spray, alcohol-resistant foam, dry chemical or carbon dioxide.

Unsuitable extinguishing media: High volume water jet.

Hazardous combustion products: Carbon dioxide (CO2), Carbon monoxide, Nitrogen oxides (NOx), Halogenated compounds

Special protective equipment for firefighters: Wear self-contained breathing apparatus for firefighting if necessary.

Further information: Collect contaminated fire extinguishing water separately. This must not be discharged into drains. Fire residues and contaminated fire extinguishing water must be disposed of in accordance with local regulations.

Accidental release measures

Personal precautions: Use personal protective equipment. Do not breathe vapours/dust.

Environmental precautions: Prevent product from entering drains. Prevent further leakage or spillage if safe to do so. If the product contaminates rivers and lakes or drains inform respective authorities.

Methods for cleaning up: Vacuum or sweep up material and place in a designated, labelled waste container. Dispose of wastes in an approved waste disposal facility.

Handling and storage

Technical measures: The product is registered with strictly controlled conditions as defined in Article 17(3) or 18(4) of regulation (EC) no. 1907/2006 (REACH Regulation) and must therefore be handled as such. Refer to the industry guidance prepared by Concawe/Cefic/EFCG for advice on the confirmation of strictly controlled conditions.

Advice on safe handling: Avoid formation of respirable particles. Do not breathe vapours/dust. Avoid contact with skin and eyes. Smoking, eating and drinking should be prohibited in the application area. Dispose of rinse water in accordance with local and national regulations.

Hygiene measures: Avoid contact with skin, eyes and clothing. When using do not eat or drink. When using do not smoke. Wash hands before breaks and immediately after handling the product.

Requirements for storage areas and containers: Keep container tightly closed in a dry and well-ventilated place. Containers which are opened must be carefully re-sealed and kept upright to prevent leakage. Observe label precautions. Electrical installations / working materials must comply with the technological safety standards.

Storage class (TRGS 510): 6.1A, Combustible, acute toxic Cat. 1 and 2 / very toxic hazardous materials

Recommended storage temperature: < 160 °C

Further information on stor-age stability: No decomposition if stored and applied as directed.

Packaging materials Remarks: The product is shipped in liquid state (70 °C). Take precautionary measures against electrostatic discharges. Ensure effective ventilation. Vent waste air only via suitable separators or scrubbers.

The product is registered with strictly controlled conditions as defined in Article 18(4) of regulation (EC) no. 1907/2006 (REACH Regulation) and must therefore be handled as such. Refer to the industry guidance prepared by Concawe/Cefic/EFCG for advice on the confirmation of strictly controlled conditions.

Filter type: ABEK-P3-filter

Hygiene measures: Wash hands, forearms and face thoroughly after handling chemical products, before eating, smoking and using the lavatory and at the end of the working period. Appropriate techniques should be used to remove potentially contaminated clothing. Wash contaminated clothing before reusing. Ensure that eyewash stations and safety showers are close to the workstation location.

RISK MANAGEMENT MEASURES - ENVIRONMENTAL EXPOSURE CONTROLS

Technical measures: Emissions from ventilation or work process equipment should be checked to ensure they comply with the requirements of environmental protection legislation. In some cases, special waste water treatment, fume scrubbers, filters or engineering modifications to the process equipment will be necessary to reduce emissions to acceptable levels.
