Additional information

One toxicity study was performed to assess the long-term toxicity of MIBK toDaphnia magnasp. Based on structural similarity with MIBC this study is used in a read-across approach. The study was conducted according to “Vorläufigen Testverfahrensvorschlag: Verlängerter Toxizitätstest beiDaphnia magna(Bestimmung der NOEC für Reproduktionsrate, Mortalität und den Zeitpunkt des ersten Auftretens von Nachkommen; 21 d). Stand: 01.01.1984”, gegeben als “Empfehlung des Umw. This methodology is similar to OECD Guideline 211 with the following exceptions: 5 animals were housed per vessel, the study was conducted in the presence of 9 h of light/day, measured concentrations of the test substance were 40 to 50% of the nominal concentration, and the test was carried out at a temperature of 25°C. Although the methodology was not GLP, the deviations from OECD 211 did not affect results. It contains all the information necessary for the evaluation. The NOEC(21 d) of MIBK in theDaphniasp. reproduction test was reported to be 78 mg/L (nominal) or 30-35 mg/L (measured). Those values are therefore used for characterizing long-term effects of MIBC toDaphnia magna.
