Terrestrial toxicity data are not available for isoprene. In the absence of data a QSAR has been used to derive an estimate of the acute toxicity of isoprene .
Earthworms: ECOSAR estimated 14 day LC50 for earthworms to be 103.1 mg/kg soil dw. TLM QSAR modelling was used to calculated LL50 and NOELR of isoprene towards E. fetida. The calculated LL50 values is 57.465 mg/kg soil dw and NOELR is 11.009 mg/kg soil dw.
Soil Arthropods: TLM QSAR modelling was used to calculate LL50 and NOELR values of isoprene towards F. candida. The calculated LL50 is 32.315 mg/kg soil dw and NOELR is 6.191 mg/kg soil dw.
Plants: Available data indicate a 3-day EC50 for Lactuca sativa of NC > 5 mM based on germination and reproduction. TLM QSAR modelling was used to calculate LL50 and NOELR values for isoprene towards terrestrial plants. The calculated LL50 of A. sativa is 147.708 mg/kg soil dw and NOELR is 28.297 mg/kg soil dw. The calculated LL50 of B. rappa is 95.368 mg/kg soil dw and NOELR is 18.27 mg/kg soil dw.
