The test substance was not irritating to the skin of rabbits as evidenced by the lack of responses observed in an OECD 404 Acute Dermal Irritation/Corrosion study. In an OECD 405 Acute Eye Irritation/Corrosion study in rabbits, minimal iritis, conjunctival redness, conjunctival chemosis and discharge were observed in the treated eyes of all rabbits. This irritation cleared by 72 hours indicating classification is not required. Therefore, the test substance does not need to be classified for skin or eye irritationaccording the EU Directive 67/548/EEC and EU Classification, Labelling and Packaging of Substances and Mixtures (CLP) Regulation (EC) No. 1272/2008.
Data from a similar test substance indicate that this material causes ulceration of the larynx in rats exposed to the material in an acute 4-hour inhalation exposure study. However, the material is classified for acute inhalation hazard, therefore a respiratory irritation classification is redundant.
