Data platform availability banner - registered substances factsheets

Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

First-aid measures

Emergency measure - Inhalation: The substance is not known to be hazardous by inhalation, but if exposed to vapour, move to area of fresh air and seek medical advice if signs of discomfort. The substance is viscous and non-volatile and therefore, is not thought to be an aspiration hazard.
Emergency measure - Eyes: Rinse immediately with plenty of water for at least 15 minutes. Seek medical advice if signs of discomfort.
Emergency measure - Skin: Wash with soap and water. Remove contaminated clothing and wash before re-use. Seek medical advice if signs of discomfort.
Emergency measure - Ingestion: Seek medical attention.

Fire-fighting measures

Recommended extinguishing agent: Agents such as dry chemical, carbon dioxide and foam are acceptable, but water should not be used as with any other fire involving oily liquids.
Product arising from burning: Products of combustion will lead to the formation of carbon dioxide and water. Incomplete combustion (with lack of oxygen) may lead to the formation of reduced carbon compounds.
Product determined by test: N
Protective equipment: Protective clothing and a self-contained breathing apparatus should be worn.

Accidental release measures

Emergency measures in case of spillage: Wear suitable protective clothing. Collect the substance into suitable labelled containers and dispose of as chemical waste by incineration or in accordance with local regulations. The area can be washed with water, but care should be taken to avoid run-off into non-controlled drainage systems or water courses.

Handling and storage

Handling: PPE should be provided to prevent unnecessary contact with skin, eyes or in enclosed spaces, by inhalation of vapour.
Storage: Store dry under ambient conditions. No special precautions.
Packaging of the substance and or preparation: Typically packed in laquered steel or high density polypropylene containers, up to 25 kg.

Disposal considerations

Industry - Possibility of recovery/recycling: The substance is consumed or mixed with other materials during use and there is not a possibility of recycling the substance.

Industry - Possibility of neutralisation: Not known

Industry - Possibility of destruction: controlled discharge: The substance does not significantly biodegrade and has a potential to accumulate in the environment. However, controlled discharge is not recommended unless in consultation with local water management authorities.

Industry - Possibility of destruction - incineration: This is the recommended method of disposal. Incinerate at an approved facility in accordance with local regulations.

Industry - Possibility of destruction - water purification: No significant biodegradation would be expected in a water treatment plant. However, this is not a recommended method of disposal without consultation with the local waste water management authority.

Industry - Possibility of destruction - other: Landfill of low level waste is possible, as permitted by local regulations.

Public at large - Possibility of recovery/recycling: The substance will not be supplied to the general public except in domestic or personal care preparations which will be disposed of as domestic waste.

Public at large - Possibility of destruction: controlled discharge: The substance will be discharged into domestic waste systems after use. It is thought to adsorb strongly to solids and is unlikely to be present in surface water. The substance should ultimately biodegrade in common with other fatty
acids derivatives.
