Data platform availability banner - registered substances factsheets

Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Endpoint:
pyrophoric solids
Data waiving:
study scientifically not necessary / other information available
Justification for data waiving:
the study does not need to be conducted because the substance is known to be stable in contact with air at room temperature for prolonged periods of time (days) and hence, the classification procedure does not need to be applied

Endpoint:
substances / mixtures which in contact with water emit flammable gases
Data waiving:
study scientifically not necessary / other information available
Justification for data waiving:
the study does not need to be conducted because the experience in production or handling shows that the substance does not react with water, e.g. the substance is manufactured with water or washed with water

Description of key information

Nonflammable.

No pyrophoricity.

No flammability on contact with water.

Not self-heating.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Flammability:
not classified

Additional information

Due to the fact that in ashes (residues), coal the inorganic elements are in their highest oxidation level and are not capable of further reaction with oxygen, ashes (residues), coal can be designated as nonflammable.

Based on chemical structure and experience in handling and use, pyrophoricity and flammability in contact with water are not expected. Based on the chemical structure the substance is not self-heating.

Justification for classification or non-classification

No classification, the substance is a non flammable solid.

In ashes (residues), coal the inorganic elements are in their highest oxidation level and are not capable of further reaction with oxygen. Therefore the substance is not flammable on ignition, not pyrophoric, not flammable in contact with water and not self-heating.

Based on the chemical structure and experience in handling and use pyrophoricity and flammability in contact with water are not expected.
