Guidance on Safe Use
Administrative data
First-aid measures
General information
Remove contaminated, soaked clothing immediately and dispose of safely. Take affected person to fresh air. Casaulty should be kept quiet and covered up. Seek medical advice immediately. If the patient is likely to become unconscious, place and transport in stable sideways position.
After inhalation
Remove the casualty into fresh air and keep him calm. In case of respiratory arrest induce breathing with a respiratory device. Seek medical advice.
After skin contact
In case of contact with skin wash off immediately with copious amounts of water.
After eye contact
In case of contact with eyes rinse thoroughly with copious amounts of water and seek medical advice.
After ingestion
Induce the patient to vomit of his own accord only if fully conscious.
Advice to doctor
Symptoms
The following symptoms may occur: Vomiting; Tiredness; Nausea; Dizziness; Headache; Shortness of breath
Hazards
Risk of pulmonary oedema. Risk of cardiac rhythm disturbances. Risk of respiratory disorders.
Treatment
Do not administer any preparations of the adrenaline-ephedrine group.
Fire-fighting measures
Suitable extinguishing media
Extinguishing measures to suit surroundings.
Special exposure hazards arising from the substance or preparation itself, combustion products, resulting gases
In case of fires, hazardous combustion gases are formed:
Carbon monoxide (CO)
Hydrogen chloride (HCl)
Phosgene
Chlorine (Cl2)
Other information
Cool endangered containers with water spray jet.
Accidental release measures
Personal precautions
Ensure adequate ventilation.
Environmental precautions
Do not discharge into the drains/surface waters/groundwater. In case of gas escape or of entry into waterways, soil or drains, inform the responsible authorities.
Methods for cleaning up/taking up
Pick up with absorbent material (e.g., kieselguhr, acid binder, universal binder). Send in suitable containers for recovery or disposal.
Handling and storage
Handling
Advice on safe handling
Ensure adequate ventilation. Provide good room ventilation even at ground level (vapours are heavier than air).
Advice on protection against fire and explosion
Keep away from sources of ignition - refrain from smoking. The product vapours are heavier than air.
Storage
Requirements for storage rooms and vessels
Storage: use steel or refined steel containers.
Further information on storage conditions
Keep container tightly closed. Store in a dark place; Keep in a cool place. Store in a dry place.
VCI storage category
12 Non-flammable liquids

Personal protective equipment
Respiratory protection
Short term: filter apparatus, filter AX; Self-contained breathing apparatus.
Hand protection
In case of intensive contact, wear protective gloves (EN 374). Sufficient protection is given wearing suitable protective gloves checked according to i.e. EN 374, in the event of risk of skin contact with the product. Before use, the protective glove should be tested in any case for its specific work-station suitability (i.e. mechanical resistance, product compatibility and antistatic properties).
Adhere to the manufacturer’s instructions and information relating to the use, storage, care and replacement of protective gloves.
Protective gloves shall be replaced immediately when physically damaged or worn. Design operations thus to avoid permanent use of protective gloves.
