Description of key information

The inhibition of the degradation activity of activated sludge is not anticipated when introduced in appropriate low concentrations.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Additional information

The growth inhibition of iso-butanol on microorganisms was tested with sewage from industrial treatment plant [UCC, 1987] and with Pseudomonas putida in a single species test [Bringmann & Kühn, 1977]. In each test the growth of the microorganisms was not inhibited at low concentrations (<100 mg/L). No activated sludge respiration inhibition test according to OECD guideline 209 is available. Therefore the PNEC derivation based on the biodegradation test according to MITI.
