Additional information

The toxicity of iso-butanol on the green algae Pseudokirchneriella subcapitata was investigated in a GLP guideline study according to OECD 201 [DOW, 2007]. The measured 72h EC50 value for growth rate was 1799 mg/L and the 72h NOEC was 53 mg/L iso-butanol. A non-GLP, 48-hour test with the green algae Scenedesmus subspicatus according to a national standard method (DIN 38412 L9), confirms the low toxicity of iso-butanol on aquatic algae [Kuehn & Pattard, 1990]. The evaluation of the endpoint growth rate revealed an EC50 (48h) of 2300 mg/L and a NOEC of approximately 900 mg/L (EC10).
