Description of key information

Based on measured inhibition rates, the 3-hour EC20 was calculated as 64.6 mg/L. Based on measured inhibition rates, the 3-hour EC50 could not be quantified because up to the highest nominal test concentration of 1000 mg/L less than 50% inhibition was noted after three hours incubation.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Additional information

The following results were obtained from a GLP study conducted according to OECD guideline 209: in comparison to the inoculum controls the respiration rate of the activated sludge was slightly inhibited by 4.8% at the lowest nominal test concentrations of 10 mg/L. At the next nominal concentrations 32 mg/L and 100 mg/L, the inhibition was 16.7% and 26.2%, respectively. At concentrations of 320 mg/L and 1000 mg/L, the respiration rate was moderately inhibited by 40.5%. Concentrations exceeding 1000 mg/L (nominal) were not tested.

Based on measured inhibition rates, the 3-hour EC20 was calculated as 64.6 mg/L. Based on measured inhibition rates, the 3-hour EC50 could not be quantified as less than 50% inhibition was measured up to the highest test concentration (1000 mg/L).
