Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

The LC50 of the supporting study was selected as key value for the chemical safety assessment because both provided studies show a similar level of toxicity, but the effect concentration of species Leuciscus idus was considered to be more relevant for assessment in context of REACH.

Additional information

Acute adverse effects to fish were investigated by two different freshwater studies. A semi-static study according to OECD guideline 203 with Oryzias latipes were performed showing mortalities at the highest test concentration (100 mg/L) after 72 hours only. Therefore, only a limit value LC50(96h) > 100 mg/L as effect level was stated. In a second study a static test according to a German guideline (DIN 38412, L15) with Leuciscus Idus was conducted showing a lethal concentration at LC50(48h) = 99 mg/L. As both studies showed a similar level of toxicity to the test species and although the latter study was rated as supporting study due to some deficiencies in reporting and the existing median effect concentration being for 48 hours only, the LC50 was selected for the further safety assessment since the OECD study only has been indicating a limit value and, even more significant, the testing of the endemic species was considered as more relevant for an assessment in the context of a REACH registration.
