Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

The substance is acutely harmful to aquatic microorganisms (LC50=38.85 mg/L). An EC10 of 21.75 mg/L after 16.7 hours was determined.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

EC50 for microorganisms:
38.85 mg/L
EC10 or NOEC for microorganisms:
21.75 mg/L

Additional information

The toxicity of the substance to Pseudomonas putida was tested using a growth inhibition test set up according to DIN38412, part 8, under GLP (93 -0200 -DGO). In the first test at test termination after 16.7 hours of exposure an EC50 of 40.4 mg/L and an EC10 of 24.4 mg/L were determined. In the repeated test an EC50 of 37.3 mg/L and an EC10 of 19.1 mg/L were determined. The resulting mean effect values for chemical safety assessment are 38.85 mg/L as EC50 and 21.75 mg/L as EC10.

In a supporting study conducted according to 87/302/EEC under GLP, a static system with activated sludge was used, with a resulting EC50(3h) of >100 mg/L (Ciba-Geigy Ltd. 1992b).

In a second supporting non-GLP study (89 -0342 -DKO) conducted according to the Bringmann-Kühn bacterial toxicity test, an EC10 of 13.1 mg/L was determined. This study was not sufficiently documented therefore it was used as a supporting study (Kl. 4).
