Description of key information

In a study according to guideline DIN 38412 L 18, the 48 hr LC50 for Leuciscus idus is 470 mg/L. No mortalities are observed at 450 mg/l.

This finding is supported by a short-term toxicity study with fish conducted according to OECD 203 with the structural analoge substance isotridecyl methacrylate (CAS 85736-97-6), which is a alkyl methacrylate of compairable length as to isodecyl methacrylate. The test was conducted in concentrations over the water solubility of the teststubstance. Despite the fact that the test therefore has to be considered as limited in validity from a technical point of view, it can be concluded that saturated solutions of the substance are non-toxic in short-term to fish. For more information please see the respective robust study summary of the study.

Additional information

LC50 [48 h]: 470 mg / L

In a study according to guideline DIN 38412 L 18, the 48 hr LC50 for Leuciscus idus is 470 mg/L. No mortalities are observed at 450 mg/l. The water solubility of Isodecyl methacrylate is in the range of 200 µg/L .Therefore, it appears that saturated solutions of the substance are non-toxic to fish. This is confirmed by the results of fish toxicity testing with the structural analogue isotridecyl methacrylate.
