Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

Isodecyl methacrylate is readily biodegradable (failing 10-day window).

Hence, this is not a required endpoint. Moreover, the potential hydrolysis products methacrylic acid and isodecyl alcohol are expected to be easily degraded in organisms via established metabolism pathways (cf. chapter 7.1).

Additional information

Isodecyl methacrylate is readily biodegradable (failing 10-day window). Hence, this is not a required endpoint. Moreover, the potential hydrolysis products methacrylic acid and isodecyl alcohol are expected to be easily degraded in organisms via established metabolism pathways (cf. chapter 7.1). Due to the very low water solubility of the ester (199 µg/L at 20°C, pH8), experiments are hardly to perform. Results obtained in a hydrolysis study are not feasible in the context of existing information on hydrolysis of other alkyl methacrylates.
