COLLECTION AND STORAGE
Soils were provided by the Ispra Establishment / Joint Research Centre and no further pretreatment (e.g. sieving, sterilization etc.) was carried out.

Details on test conditions:
TEST SYSTEM
For every soil 2 samples were prepared. Every test vial (250 ml glass centrifuge vial with ground glass stopper) was filled with 20 g of soil (dry weight), after which 100 ml of test solution (concentration 1.11 mg/l in 0.01 M CaCl2-solution) were added. So the ratio soil/solution was 1/5 (w/w). The soil/water-mixtures were agitated on a mechanical shaker to maintain the soil in suspension. The test was performed at room temperature.

After 2 h the aqueous phase was separated by centrifugation. The concentrations of the test substance in the supernatants were determined by HPLC after concentrated by liquid/liquid phase extraction.

For all soils the values of the concentrations of the test substance in equilibrium state were below the detection limit. Therefore the adsorption as well as the K'oc-values could only be estimated from the detection limit.

Additional information

In a GLP-study according to OECD guideline 106, the adsorption/desorption characateristics were tested for 5 soils. In the equilibrium state for all soils the values of the concentrations of the compound in the extracts were below the detection limit (67.4 µg/l) and the adsorption as well as the K’oc-values could only be estimated from the detection limit. The resulting K’oc-values ranged from >662 to >4682.
