Materials and methods

Test guideline
Qualifier:
equivalent or similar to guideline
Guideline:
EU Method A.10 (Flammability (Solids))
Principles of method if other than guideline:
Analysis of the reaction process by visual judgement and determination of the burning number between 1 and 6 (BZ). A pile of the solid
is ignited by a gas flame and a hot wire to one end. If a self combustion is observed (BZ > 4), the burning rate will be determined according to the
Chemical regulation and transportation rules.
GLP compliance:
no
Remarks:
Not required by the authoriy

Pyrophoric solids
Test procedure:
ignition time on contact with air
Remarks:
Ignition on contact with air refers to either Pyrophoric solids or Pyrophoric liquids depending on physical state (migrated information).
Remarks on result:
no ignition on contact with air (not further specified)
Remarks:
corresponding to 'no' in migrated source record.
Pyrophoric liquids
Test procedure:
ignition time on contact with air
Remarks:
Ignition on contact with air refers to either Pyrophoric solids or Pyrophoric liquids depending on physical state (migrated information).
Remarks on result:
no ignition on contact with air (not further specified)
Remarks:

Any other information on results incl. tables

No reaction could be observed after ignition by a flame. Only a short ignition with the hot wire was observed. After removal of the ignition source no flame could be more noted. In addition, a melting of the product was observed.

Applicant's summary and conclusion

Interpretation of results:
non flammable
Remarks:
Migrated information
Conclusions:
The burning number is BZ 2. Classification as highly flammable solid is not be considered for the test item.
Executive summary:

The study was performed according to EU Method A.10.

The substance does not ignite and propagate combustion either by burning with flame or smouldering of the ceramic plate within the test period.

Therefore the substance is not be considered as highly flammable and no further testing is required.
