Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Additional information

For the evaluation of this endpoint data from two handbooks (CRC handbooks, 1974 and 2008) were used as key information. Information from the Merck Index was used as supportive information because it addressed the hydrate form of strontium chloride. According to the REACH regulation ("ECHA, guidance on information requirements and chemical safety assessment - chapter R.7.a"), it is allowed to use specific handbook data as a reliable data source. Useful reference books and data compilations containing peer reviewed physico-chemical data include the CRC handbook of Chemistry and Physics and the Merck Index.

Data available from these handbooks describe strontium chloride as white hygroscopic cubic crystalline or as a colourless cubic crystalline and strontium chloride hexahydrate as colourless, odourless crystals or white granules.
