Description of key information

The test substance is a liquid and therefore a flashpoint study was performed to assess the flammability.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Additional information

In addition, it is not expected that bis(2-chloroethoxy) methane

has pyrophoric properties and reacts with water. Instead it is very well soluble in water.

Justification for classification or non-classification

The test substance is a liquid and therefore a flashpoint study was performed to assess the flammability. The Pensky-Martens closed cup method was applied for the determination of the flash-point of bis(2-chloroethoxy) methane. The flash-point of the test substance was 103°C (376.15 kelvin). Based on this result the test substance is not classified as flammable.

Based on the information indicated above, no classification is needed on flammability, pyrophoric properties and reactivity with water.
