Description of key information

The half-life value of 17 days is used for the C12-C14-1,3-diaminopropane based on read-across from the structurally related hexadecyl amine.

Additional information

The substance is readily biodegradable, thus there is no requirement for performing a soil biodegradation test. For14C-hexadecyl amine the half-life in soil according to OECD 307 was 8.13 - 8.98 days at 20 °C. Using EUSES this half-life is recalculated to 17 days at 12°C. As both the primary alkyl amine and diamines are readily biodegradable and have an almost identical observed sorption to soil, the half-life of hexadecylamine in soil is considered to be representative for the C12-C14-1,3-diaminopropanes as well. Thus for this diamine a half-life value of 17 days is used based on read across.
